On Saturday, June 1st, triathletes will converge in Minden to swim, ride, and run their way to victory in the first Minden Sprint Triathlon. Event organizer Ryan Wakefield anticipates 30 to 50 participants during this first year and hopes to grow the event into an annual event.
The Sprint Triathlon is the shortest-distance triathlon, ideal for those competitors who are new to the sport. That said, Wakefield said that training is essential. “Preparation for an event such as this requires dedication and determination to find time in one’s life to fit in the required training. In the end, the time put in will be worth the gratification one has crossing the finish line.”
