Trustees Approve Surgery Purchases

The Kearney County Health Services Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting on July 31. There were two pieces of new business on the agenda.

The water heater in the mechanical room is leaking. The ten year old equipment can no longer be used and needs to be replaced. A new unit will cost $15,500 with an estimated labor cost for installation of $3,375. The replacement was approved by the board.

The second piece of new business was two surgery purchase requests. A proposal was reviewed regarding the current double doors leading to OR space to be replaced. With larger surgery cases coming in, the suggestion is to replace the double doors with a single swing open door with a better seal. The order and installation of a new door will take approximately eight weeks.

In addition to seeking approval for the new door installation, the board was asked for direction in obtaining a lead lined door for the space. The cost of a lead lined door will be an additional $5,060 on top of the estimated $6,765 for the door itself.
