Information regarding the new Senior Life Solutions service line at Kearney County Health Services dominated the April 24 meeting of the KCHS Board of Trustees.
In her report to the board, CFO Kayla Rhynalds explained expenses that exceed the budget largely relate to start up costs of the new service line which was unanticipated when the budget was created as well as expenses related to higher patient service volumes in areas. Despite over budget expenses, the facility has maintained a positive margin for the year.
She also informed the trustees that she and CEO Luke Poore had spoken with the Kearney County Board of Supervisors and submitted an amended budget to accommodate the over budget expenditures. She explained revenue has increased proportionately with the expenditures, but it is necessary to submit an amended budget. A public hearing will be held for the amended budget on May 7 at 10:45 a.m.
