Coronavirus vaccine distribution was discussed during the January 27 meeting of the Kearney County Health Services Board of Trustees. Second doses of the Moderna vaccine were given to KCHS staff throughout the week and 48 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were scheduled to be administered to Phase 1B groups by KCHS at Kearney County Fairgrounds on Thursday, January 28.
KCHS Pharmacist Mark Klabunde reported KCHS was scheduled to receive 48 doses of the Pfizer vaccine every week. When it is time to begin second doses of the vaccine, those doses will be received in addition to the weekly 48 doses. KCHS and Two Rivers Public Health Department have compiled a list of Kearney County residents eligible to receive the vaccine based on state guidelines. Recipients for the first round of public vaccinations were randomly chosen from the list.
As vaccinations continue, KCHS will follow state guidelines to determine eligibility. Residents can complete a survey on the TRPHD website to ensure they are contacted once vaccines become available for their state identified group. Otherwise, KCHS will also be pulling names from their patient list of folks whom have been seen as a patient within Kearney County Health Services in the last 2 years.
