Visits To Great Grandmother Led To Lutkemeier’s Volunteerism

Kearney County is full of generous people who give time, money, and effort to make their community a better place. When the youth of the communities begin volunteering, it makes the act even more remarkable. Austin Lutkemeier of Minden was just nine years old when he began helping at Bethany Home.
The Lutkemeier family lives outside of city limits. Two years ago, Austin’s mother, Mary, began bringing him and his bike into town and allowed him to ride from Family Physical Therapy where she works to Bethany Home in order to visit his great grandmother.
“He was very excited about that bit of independence and he would visit her often,” Mary recalled.
