As part of the City of Minden Beautification Committee, Terry Delgado can be seen most evenings downtown watering plants.
Delgado, who has been a life longtime Minden resident, got involved in 2011 through Joy’s Floral owner Don Phillips. Previously, the planters and hanging baskets on the town square had been the responsibility of the City of Minden, but Phillips, in conjunction with the Beautification Committee, felt the plants were not being adequately cared for and volunteered to help. Phillips said that Delgado, a longtime acquaintance, expressed interest in the task after watching for a while.
“One night we were out there watering, and Terry says, ‘Well, I can do that for you,’ “ Phillips said. “He went around for about a week with me, learning how to do it, and we just let him go for it from there.”
