Whippet Boys End Long Losing Streak To Kearney Catholic, 61-57
The Minden Whippets boys basketball team was able to enjoy a hard fought victory over an old nemesis on December 18 as Minden got back on the winning track by holding on for a four point win, 61-57.
For the first time in five years, Minden was able to hold on in a closely contested game with the Stars and hand Kearney Catholic a loss in this rivalry.
Minden got a huge game from junior Elijah Lovin. Lovin poured in a season high 29 points including going 13 of 15 from the foul line and making seven field goals including a pair of three-pointers. Grant Edgecombe was next with 11 points on five field goals and Josh Denney added nine points and Brayden Petersen seven for the Dawgs.
