Whippet Girls Open With Road Victory

The Minden Whippet girls basketball team opened its 2014-15 season on the road Thursday taking on the Southern Valley Eagles in Stamford.
The Lady Whippets bolted to a 48-18 at halftime and rolled to a 70-34 victory to move to 1-0 on in the early season contest.
The Class C-1 Whippets placed three players in double-digits to lead Minden to the win. Taylor Kissinger netted a team-best 28 points for the sophomore followed by juniors Rebecca Stewart with 15 points and Emily Malcom with 11.
Minden used its pressure full court defense to turn over the Eagles in the first quarter and jump out to a 20-10 advantage.
In the second period, Minden really got its offense rolling scoring a game-high 28 points to pull out to a 30 point halftime advantage over Southern Valley 48-18.
