Whippets Are Fourth At Superior Invite
The Minden Whippet track and field teams made their annual trip to Superior on April 19 for the seven-team Superior Invitational held in cold, wet and windy conditions.
The Minden girls came away with a fourth place finish scoring 73 points. Hastings St. Cecilia won the invite title with a score of 204.33 followed by Thayer Central with 95.33 and Superior with 80.33.
The Lady Whippets 4×400 relay team of Bailie Muller, Emily Nelson, Cassandra Choquette and Brooke Kissinger won gold at the invite with a time of 4:27.46.
Sydney Phillips was an individual double medalist taking second in the 1,600-meters (6:06.78) and third in the 3,200-meters (12:56.79) while Amy Nielsen was third in the pole vault (7’0″).
Brooke Kissinger and Chelsey Miller went second and fifth in the long jump with efforts of 14’5.5″ and 13’7.75″ respectively. Olivia Steen and Bailey Petersen went fourth and fifth in the high jump both topping 4’4″.
The girls 4×800 relay took silver with teammates Nelson, Choquette and Jamie and Brooke Kissinger in a clocking of 10:44.31. The bronze medal went to the Minden 4×100 relay team with members Kelsey Emal, Miller, Anisha Kuehn and Sydney Stadler in a time of 56.19.
