Minden and Holdrege were deadlocked in a tight contest until two long touchdown runs by Carter Harsin in the third quarter swung the tide the Whippets’ way as Minden defeated the Dusters 27-13 at home on October 1. The Whippets rose to 3-3 and next play at Cozad (5-1) on October 8.
There was no scoring in the first quarter although both teams generated some yardage and first downs.
Holdrege missed on a 35-yard field goal attempt in the opening minutes of the second period then Minden followed with a 12-play drive capped at 5:05 on a one-yard sneak by quarterback Harsin. Jose Ciprian’s conversion kick put the Whippets up 7-0.
