Minden moved to 2-2 on the season with a home win over Fillmore Central 41-7 on September 14. The Whippets next host Kearney Catholic Friday in the Homecoming game.
Minden took just six plays to move 80 yards on the contest’s opening drive, the culmination being Aiden Smith’s 21-yard run. Irvin Hernandez booted the point after and at 10:29 of the first period the Whippets led 7-0. That was all of the scoring in the quarter.
On the Whippets’ first possession of the second period, a methodical 13-play, 64-yard drive ended with an eight-yard TD run by Eddie Gonzalez at 5:31. Hernandez’ kick was true again giving Minden a 14-0 lead.
