Whippets Fall To Patriots

Minden gave C-1 top-rated Adams Central all they could handle for much of the game but the Patriots prevailed 38-13 in the first round of the state playoffs on a chilly and breezy evening at AC’s field. The Whippets end the season at 2-7.
The Dawg defense forced a number of punts, gained a turnover and pressured the Patriots to give the ball up on downs a few times but big plays by AC time and again put quick points on the board.
In the first quarter, on AC’s second play from scrimmage, tailback Fowler ripped off a 56-yard TD run. The PAT put the Pats up 7-0 at the 9:02 mark. The Whippets offense picked up a couple first downs but couldn’t sustain drives and the Dawg defense shut down AC the remainder of the period.
A big play in the kicking game early in the second quarter gave AC the short field for their next scoring opportunity.
