Whippets Host Marsh Beck Invitational
The Minden Whippets track and field team hosted the annual Marsh Beck Invitational on April 12 at Kuper Field.
The Minden girls finished fourth overall with a team score of 71. Adams Central won the invite title scoring 123 points followed by Holdrege in second with 112 and Cozad third with 86.5. Grand Island Central Catholic was fifth with 64 followed by Broken Bow with 40 and Gibbon 31.
“We had some great weather which paid off on the track and in the field with 27 personal bests,” stated Minden girls head coach Sam Dunn. “I’m extremely proud of the way the girls responded to their added events. This team has continually worked extremely hard this season thus far.
The Lady Whippets were led by gold medalist Brooke Kissinger in the 400-meters. Kissinger took first while teammate Bailie Muller was right behind her, earning the silver medal. Kissinger had a winning time of 1:02.88 with Muller clocking in at 1:04.31. Kissinger also added gold medals in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.
Emily Nelson was also a gold medalist in the girls 800-meters along with being part of the winning 4×800 and 4×400 relays. Nelson won the race in a time of 2:36.
