Whippets Open Track Season With Southern Valley Triangular
The Minden track teams competed in the Southern Valley triangular on March 27.
The Whippet girls won the meet with 70 points, followed by St. Cecilia with 67 and Southern Valley with 40.
The Minden girls won ten of the seventeen events. Sydney Phillips in the 1600-meters (5:53) and 3200-meters (13:00) and Addison Woodward in the 100-meters (12.5) and long jump (15’5″) were double winners.
Also claiming top spots were Brooke Kissinger in the 400-meters (1:04.19), Emily Nelson in the 800-meters in 2:37.9, Rachel Rutt in the triple jump (30’11-1/2″). Bailey Petersen won the girls high jump (5’2″), and the two Minden relays 4×100 in 53.94 and the 4×400 in 4:25.6.
On the boys side, St. Cecilia came out on top scoring 86. Southern Valley was next at 51 and Minden A tallied 36. Minden B scored 3 points. The Whippet boys won four events, led by double winner Isaac Carlson (long jump, 20’2″; triple jump, 40’6″). Jarod Speer topped the field in the 400 (53.27) and the 4×800 relay broke the string in 9:18.3.
