The Amherst Invite was postponed from March 30 to April 3 and the delay offered up an opportunity for the varsity golf team to compete for the first time in this event. The weather was cool and overcast as the Whippets teed it up for the first time under Head Coach Steve Exstrom. Minden finished as the runner-up team shooting a 366 team score. Kearney Catholic won the team event shooting a very solid 323 with Amherst in third with a 373.
Individually, the Whippets were paced by senior Jake Kuehn. Kuehn is into his fourth season as a varsity golfer and it showed as he worked his way to a front nine score of 42 followed by a back nine score of 39. Kuehn’s 81 for the day was good enough for fourth place overall.
Junior Ethan Hanson finished in a tie for seventh place firing an 84. Thomas Miller earned the 15th place shooting a 91 for the day. Alex Olson, playing in his first ever varsity match shot a 110 including a 52 on the opening nine holes.
