Whippets Softball Falls 19-4

The Minden Whippets softball team played only their second home game of the season on Sept. 13 when they hosted the Southern Valley Eagles at Augie Nelson Park. The Whippets lost a 19-4 decision to the Eagles, dropping their record to 1-15 on the season. The first inning didn’t go as planned for the Whippets as Southern Valley plated five runs off Minden starter Callie Pinkham. Minden was able to cut into the deficit in the bottom of the first when Jessa Vohland walked and scored on an RBI single by Meghan Antillon to make the score 5-1 Eagles. In the second, Southern Valley was able to widen its lead to 9-1 as they plated four more runners. Meanwhile, Minden was unable to get any players home as the Eagle lead was eight going into the third. In the top of the third, Southern Valley would increase its lead again with two more runs. The Eagles went ahead 11-1.
