Whippets Sports Now On UStream
Can’t get to a Minden to cheer on your hometown team or attend a school event.
Minden Public Schools has the new service and they are proud to announce it to the public and former graduates around the world.
Starting this fall, Minden Public School will provide our fans with a new way of viewing home Minden Whippet athletics and events.
Minden unveiled its new web-streaming video option for activities taking place in C.L. Jones Gymnasium.
Now grandparents, aunts, uncles, alumni and friends who are around the world are just several clicks away from being able to tune into Whippet activities such as volleyball, concerts, graduation, wrestling and basketball all while in the comfort of your home.
The instructions to view Minden activities are at www.ustream.tv and in the search field search “mindenwhippets” (all one word). The viewer will then be able to click on live broadcasts or a recorded activity.
This new service was made possible with the generous donations from the Lincoln Community Foundation and the Jim Geist Memorial through the Minden Public Schools Foundation. The Minden Booster Club was also instrumental in funding the web-streaming.
Minden Principal Don Hosick indicated the web-streaming idea came from a conversation he had with volleyball coach Ed Rowse about getting live streaming a volleyball game. The idea progressed the past two years and with the help of ustream and Kevin Hansen from Communications Engineering, Inc, in Hastings everything came together.
The web-streaming was also part of a bigger picture that included last year installing a security system in and around the high school and the parking lots at C.L. Jones and the high school.
“There is nothing on the ustream site that is inappropriate and it is being used by many organizations including churches and we have been told that it contains only family friendly advertising, which helps keep the current service free,” stated Hosick.
