Whippets Top Haymakers, Earn Spot in C-1 Playoffs

Minden topped Cozad 34-8 on October 21 at Cozad and at 6-3 closed with its best regular season record since the 2011 Whippets went 11-1. A spot on the C-1 playoffs was earned as well, a first since 2013. Minden (#12 seed) will travel to Albion to take on Boone Central (#5 seed, 7-2 record) on Friday, October 28. The winner of that contest will play the winner of Ashland-Greenwood vs. Auburn on Friday, November 4. The C-1 bracket includes 16 schools.

As for the win at Cozad, the Dawgs defense got a pair of pick sixes to supplement a career rushing night by Rylan Holsten.

The Whippets scored two touchdowns in the opening period— a three-yard Holsten run plus a Holsten conversion run at 4:29, then an interception return for a TD by Bronson Glanzer at 3:47. After one quarter Minden led 14-0.
