Whippets, Wildcats, and Falcons Run at State Cross Country

The State Cross Country Meet was held at its usual location, the Kearney Country Club, on October 21.

In Class C, the Minden girls finished 11th out of 15 teams that qualified as 108 girls ran. The top three teams were Wayne, Auburn and Lincoln Christian.

Individual winner was Keelianne Green of Arlington at 19:15. The Whippet girls were led by, as they have been for four years, senior Jessie Hurt. In 36 career races before this one she never failed to medal, more often than not coming in first, second or third. 12th was her previous low finish. But this was not her day as she ran to 16th, one place away from medalling. She clocked 20:48 and was joined at the meet by junior Lindsey Rehtus (55th, 22:58), senior Trinity Houchin (58th, 23:06), sophomore Larissa Labenz (65th, 23:19), senior Alejandra Iniguez (66th, 23:21) and junior Ilyana Cardenas (78th, 23:39). Just a week earlier these girls had earned a district championship.
