Whippets Win C-4
The Minden Whippets girls golf team participated in the Class C-4 district golf meet held on Oct. 3 at Southern Hills Golf Course outside of Hastings. The weather continued to be fantastic as the temperatures were in the high 70s with a southwest wind of 10-15 miles-per-hour.
The Whippets put together a great team effort in winning the C-4 district meet. Minden’s team score of 419 was two strokes better than second place Dundy County-Stratton (421) and 11 strokes better than Hastings St. Cecilia (430).
By winning the district title Minden will be off to Columbus for the two-day Class C-1 state meet held on Oct. 10-11 at Quail Run Golf Course.
The Whippets team was well represented in the medal count as Allison Geist put together one of her finest rounds shooting 43 and 52 for a 95 which earned her third place overall medalist honors in a field of 60 golfers.
Elizabeth Grams placed sixth for Minden carding rounds of 49 and 52 for a 101 total over the 18-hole course. Ashton Boldt was next for Minden with a 109 with rounds of 54 and 55. Jessica Rehtus shot an 18-hole total of 114 which included rounds of 56 and 58 and Mariah Koch rounded out the team shooting a 132 with rounds of 67 and 65.
