Wil-Hil Girls Earn Decisive Win Over Axtell at Home

In the yearly neighborhood battle, Wilcox-Hildreth’s girls earned a decisive win over Axtell 51-24 on January 20 at Wilcox. The Lady Falcons are 12-2, Axtell 5-9. Refer to the Axtell/Wilcox-Hildreth boys article for comments about the cancer awareness emphasis and big crowd atmosphere.

Wil-Hil was up 8-0 early until Kassidy Halvorsen and Lexie Eckhoff connected back-to-back for Axtell. Madison Bunger scored seven for the Falcons in the opening quarter. 

Scoring on five of its first seven possessions of the second period Wil-Hil took its largest first half lead 24-9 at 3:57. At halftime Wil-Hil led 24-14. Cara Bunger and Claire Ortgiesen had five apiece for the Falcons and Halvorsen and Emily Danburg each sank a trey for the Cats.
