Wilcox-Hildreth One Act Play Wins Class D-1 State Championship

The Wilcox-Hildreth One Act team, directed by Carolyn Hance, won the Class D-1 State Play Production Championship in Kearney on Thursday. They performed “And Then There Was One” by Michael Druce. The win marks the first NSAA State Championship for Wilcox-Hildreth since the merger of the two schools. They qualified for state by winning first place at the District D1-4 Play Production competition in Red Cloud on November 29.  Five cast members won NSAA Outstanding Performance awards: Clay Blank as Inspector Horatio Miles; DJ Roads as Matthew Charisma; Matt Harms as Clayhorn; Karen Paitz as Mimms; and Miranda Paitz as Heather Starlett. Clay, Matt, Karen, and Miranda were also awarded Outstanding Performance awards at the District competition along with Olivia Adam as Delores Biggs and Stuart Fritz as Presley York, and Shaylee Fouts as Margaret LaRue.  Other members of the cast include: Caitlin Hinrichs as Emily Plain, Mikayla Gitchel as Dr. Alberta Prince, and DJ Roads as Matthew Charisma. Behind the scenes, running the lights and sound, and keeping props and scripts organized were: Kathi Adam, Nathan and Rachel Arehart, Kaizelle Damit-Og, Morgan Farley, Shaina and Shelby Fouts, Lexi Jenkins, Kylie Sturgis, and Jana Wilson.
