The Wilcox-Hildreth track and field teams finally got to compete in a meet on March 28 at the 14-team Elwood Invitational “which was great even if it was very cold, windy and at first wet” according to coach Ken Meyers. “We had some good performances from both the boys and girls. For the girls both Abby and Brooke Quadhamer had great days—Abby in the long and triple jumps and a leg on the 4 x 400 relay and Brooke in the open 400. For the boys, both Aaron Jenkins and Bryce Tobiassen had good days—Aaron in the vault and 300 hurdles and Bryce in the 200 and long jump—with good starts to the season. Both boys were also on the 4 x 100 relay (along with Christian Penny and Triston Nicks) which placed. Also pleased with our 4 x 800 relay which was made up of Lane Lieb, Gavin Sheen, Penny and Trevor Young.”
The boys finished sixth with 33 points with the top three boys’ teams being South Loup (98), Bertrand (86) and Loomis (69).
The Lady Falcons came in fifth with 37 with the top three girls’ teams being South Loup (128), Bertrand (82) and Elm Creek (77).
