Seven high schools, among them Axtell, competed at the Overton Invitational on April 19. The Cat boys scored in all 16 events (no pole vault was contested) in claiming yet another team title. Axtell’s 147 points outdistanced Ansley-Litchfield (118), Twin Loup (85) and S-E-M (52).
The Lady Cats scored 93 to come in second behind Ansley-Litchfield’s 104 and ahead of Overton’s 78 and Pleasanton’s 74.
Parker Sis won three individual golds (200, 400, high jump) and was on the winning 1600 relay with Colton Maxwell, Tyson Marsh and August Fishell. Braiden Gomez won the 100 and teamed with Maxwell, August Fishell and Austin Fishell in winning the 400 relay. Marsh took gold in the 800. Earning second places were August Fishell (200), Evan Bertrand (300 hurdles), Creighton Kring (long jump), Cody Nickel (shot put, discus) and the 3200 relay team of Evan Bertrand, Jarett Bertrand, Marsh and Maxwell. Evan Bertrand picked up a third in the 110 hurdles.
