Axtell’s boys overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Sumner-Eddyville- Miller 56-52 in Axtell on January 10 and in doing so rose to 7-3.
S-E-M led 14-8 after the opening period and still led at halftime 28-23, even though the Cats had a 15-14 edge in the second quarter.
By the end of the third period, Axtell’s 14-8 advantage allowed the Cats to hold a 37-36 lead. Then both teams had their best scoring quarters in the fourth, with Axtell’s 19-16 upper hand sufficient for the win.
