Wildcats Down Roughriders

For the first time this season, Axtell’s boys got their record over .500, now at 11-10, travelling to Southwest (Bartley) and defeating the Roughriders 62-44 on February 9. The Cats entertain Southern Valley on Friday in the last regular season game before subdistrict action. The tourney at Southern Valley on February 18-21 will have Wilcox-Hildreth as the number one seed.
The Cats ran out to an 18-8 lead through one quarter. Southwest cut into the lead a bit in the second, outscoring Axtell 12-8, but the Cats remained in front at half 26-20.
The third quarter went a long way toward icing the contest for Axtell as a 19-11 advantage made the score 45-31. The Cats closed it out outpointing Southwest 17-13.
