Wildcats Fall To Kearney Catholic

The Axtell Wildcat boys basketball team closed out the first half of its season on Dec. 21 when they traveled to Kearney to take on the Kearney Catholic Stars in a pre-Christmas contest.
Kearney Catholic had too much firepower for the Wildcats and pulled away in the second period for a 70-33 victory.
Axtell falls to 2-3 on the season before going into the Minden Holiday Tournament on Dec. 28 taking on the Minden Whippets in the opening round.
The Cats were led by Bryce Runge who scored a team-high 14 points while pulling down six rebounds. Brandon Benson also reached double figures with 10 points and four steals.
