Axtell’s girls picked up a win in taking down Kenesaw 49-30 on January 5 at Kenesaw. The Lady Cats climbed to 4-6.
Kenesaw led 12-11 after a first quarter of ebb and flow with a few lead changes. Axtell then used a 13-9 advantage in the second quarter to go up by halftime 24-21, thanks in part to an 8-0 run in the middle minutes of the period.
Axtell clamped down defensively in the second half and, after Kenesaw hit a three-pointer early in the third quarter, the Cats allowed only six points the rest of the way. Axtell outscored the Lady Blue Devils 11-6 in the third to lead 35-27 and had its best offensive and defensive numbers in the fourth outdoing Kenesaw 14-3.
